Kriya as a Path to Spiritual Intelligence and Empathy
Spiritual intelligence is the ability to see more deeply, to understand why things are happening, and not to react on autopilot. Empathy naturally grows out of this kind of perception — it’s an inner state that arises on its own.
In Kriya, this isn’t cultivated through restraints or suppressing emotions. Instead, consciousness itself shifts, and as it does, the way a person relates to people and situations naturally changes.
• Kriya teaches you to interrupt the mind’s automatic reactions.
Attention becomes steadier, and thoughts no longer seize it instantly. A pause appears between an event and your response to it. This is where real maturity of consciousness begins to take shape.
• Kriya develops awareness.
Through energisation, concentration, and meditation practices, it becomes clear how thoughts and emotions register in the body. Judgement and irritation are felt as tension. And once something is seen clearly, it no longer controls us from the unconscious.
• Kriya cultivates the ability to see causes, not just effects. In meditation, the mind quietens and perception deepens.
It then becomes obvious that another person’s behaviour is a reflection of their inner state. Instead of taking offence, understanding arises. This, as Imram says, is one of the signs of developed spiritual intelligence.
• Kriya helps prevent the accumulation of inner negativity.
Emotions surface and are released through practice, rather than being pushed into the subconscious or stored in the body. As a result, old reactions don’t become the background noise of life and no longer dictate behaviour.
• Kriya strengthens inner clarity and purpose.
When someone has a clear inner sense of direction, many things that once unsettled them simply lose their power. As Imram puts it, events then begin to align in a way that naturally leads a person towards a higher state. Judgement gradually loses its grip.
Kriya teaches you to see clearly, understand deeply, and remain balanced.
