Why do we wake up tired?
Often, it begins with a specific pattern.
· The mind wakes up before the body. Thoughts and underlying worries surface the moment we awaken.
· Reaching for the phone instead of tuning in. If you pick up your phone as soon as you wake up, a stream of external information is immediately loaded into your awareness.
· A stressful start to the day. Without the chance to wake up gently and transition naturally from sleep to wakefulness, the nervous system immediately begins operating in a state of anxiety and urgency.
Master Imram emphasises that chaotic thoughts consume a great deal of energy and drain a tremendous amount of life force. When mental overload hits first thing in the morning, there’s a sudden surge of energy. Instead of feeling refreshed, we feel exhausted from the very start of the day.
The way we wake up shapes the way we live the rest of the day.
If we spend the first hour of the morning consciously and focus our attention properly, the entire flow of the day begins to unfold differently.
