Auto-Suggestion During Practice Sessions
We all carry a vast store of beliefs formed in childhood. Some were placed upon us, others we created ourselves. It can take years to break free from these inner limitations.
One of the most reliable ways to transform subconscious programmes is to become aware of them in deep meditation.
🔹If this feels too complex or time-consuming so far, you can work with auto-suggestion instead — which also operates through the power of words. In other words, you train yourself into who you want to become, or what you want to achieve.
Auto-suggestion is not simply the repetition of phrases. It is a shift in self-perception.
Many traditions are built on this principle. For example, Tibetan monks use auto-suggestion to identify with the qualities they aspire to embody. The same principle is present in Kriya Nidra practice, where we affirm our own perfection. When we say, “I realise this is not just a leg, but the highest power expressed as a leg,” — the body responds. In Kriya, energising the body is also a form of auto-suggestion.
In this sense, auto-suggestion itself becomes a form of meditation. It is important to understand this: if we meditate on emptiness, we dissolve into it and lose individual form. So if you are not yet engaged in deep, systematic practice of yoga or meditation, it is often more effective to meditate on the image of what you wish to become.
✨If you want to be healthy, your new self-image must include health.
“In Kriya, we practise the presence of the Creator from head to toe — this is the highest affirmation of all time. Because here, the Creator Himself works through us, giving exactly what is needed, in the right measure. Complete trust in the Creator is the greatest affirmation.” (Imram)
