Irina – All attachments are gone and I’m at ease.

Participants of Imram Kriya seminars, retreats, meditations, lectures and webinars share their impressions. We thank everyone who leaves their comments and reviews, who talks about their experiences, inspiring others! Irina from Riga discovered Kriya yoga after reading Paramahansa Yogananda’s book Autobiography of a Yogi.

Irina was so impressed by the story narrated by the great yogi that she firmly decided to start exploring the Science of Kriya. Irina discovered Imram Kriya website, where she learnt about Master Imram. First, Irina attended the Imram Kriya Seminar, which, according to her, has changed her whole life. Then Irina came to a Retreat in Sochi.

Meeting Master Imram changed my entire life. I couldn’t even have imagined it was possible to get something like that, to be honest. I was in such awe, just from that personal contact. I can still remember the moment he walked in. I felt that light instantly. You see, it’s not a person entering, it’s just a light that appears at once.

I had been listening to his music for six months. I really embraced his music when he was singing mantras, bhajans. When he asked what questions we would have. I thanked him just for this music.

And, when he left, the first week I really felt his presence.

I’m so happy that Kriya is in my life. I have changed a lot. Starting from my household. Food. I gave up meat. My husband barely eats meat either, because I do the cooking. There is no alcohol in my life for a year and a half now. We used to have such a socially active family that we had many guests coming over. We had all sorts of parties. Those days are over. I realised there are far fewer attachments now. When I got rid of that, I felt like I’d lost a hundred kilos from my own body.

I really like that here I can be myself. We’ve all become friends here. Here, people are all on the same page and we’re all connected. All our changes, what happens to us, I can spell it out. It’s even more empowering, like, everything is opening up internally, I know I’m doing the right thing.

In my life, when I go into a place or meet new people, sometimes you can’t be your real self. Other people wouldn’t accept this information if I just come out and say it. Here, the people are accepting. They are filled with this love. They are pure, bright and we are all on the same path.

I’m doing all these techniques, 42 Kriyas, I listen to all his videos that are posted on YouTube. But I still have a lot of questions, and at the Retreat I got really a lot of answers I needed. This is, once again, a confirmation that I am doing everything right. And I’m moving forward.”

Ideally, you should eat once every few days. However, we are used to having breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus brunch and other snacks. Let’s remember how our ancestors lived. They would have a snack in the morning and go to work. They would have dinner when the sun was at three o’clock, metaphorically speaking. If they had food, they ate it. They hardly had anything to eat in the evening.

How to deal with food cravings

It would be right if you ate when you were really hungry, not when the stomach wall programme or the appetite that comes as a thought demands it. Let us say you had a meal two or three hours ago. You’re walking down the street and you notice a pleasant smell. You immediately develop an attachment and a feeling of wanting to eat something. You can’t get rid of that thought.

I used to have this feeling, too. I tried to deal with it by curling my tongue back. That’s an element of khechari mudra. When you hold your tongue back consciously and concentrate on the feeling “I am energy, I am a Divine Cave”, all these thoughts dissolve. They no longer have power.

Hunger is not a state where you are consciously starving and endogenous nutrition kicks in. It is a state of being hungry, which comes most likely four to six hours later. If you find it difficult to start eating like this right away, you can eat two or three small meals a day. Do not stuff your stomach, otherwise the food will not be digested and will stay there longer, making it harder to get rid of the hoop that appears around the waist.

What it means to eat properly

You should eat righteously: eat as little as possible and exercise more physical activity. Then you will be able to burn off the excess. If you do pranayama, it’s actually even better, because pranayama burns everything. It burns out all the waste matter and eliminates it from the body. However, don’t use pranayama just to cleanse yourself. It is meant for high realisations.

I eat as follows: if there is food, I eat once a day. I only consume vegetarian food like fruits and vegetables. The rest of the time I drink water, sometimes herbal tea.

Here’s a tip: if possible, eat two meals a day and don’t overeat. It’s best to take six hours between meals, then you’ll have time to work it all off. This is also the time needed to keep the bile from stagnating when hunger strikes. If you feel as though you’re hungry and would like to eat, wait another hour. If the feeling remains, then it’s definitely okay to eat.
